Bald eagle watching opportunities abound along the Muscatine riverfront from December through early March as the eagles enjoy the excellent fishing opportunities created by the churning waters of Lock and Dam No. 16, which is just 1.3 miles upriver
from the Norbert F. Beckey Bridge in Muscatine. Enjoy the views from our shores using the spotting scopes outside Pearl City Station in our Riverside Park or from the vantage point of the Mark Twain Overlook.
Visit us in January for our annual Eagles and Ivories Ragtime Weekend, when you can eagle watch and enjoy ragtime music from internationally renowned musicians. Park rangers from the Corps of Engineers and naturalists from the Muscatine County Conservation Board are available during the Ragtime Weekend to share information about the birds. The schedule also includes silent movie viewing, supper, and afterhours socializing at Wine Nutz in downtown Muscatine.
